Pendleton girls defeat Mazama

The Pendleton Bucks girls' softball team defeated Mazama 4-0 this afternoon to continue their quest for a state title. Kelli Demianew pitched a complete game for Pendleton, who has yet to yield a run in two playoff contests. The Bucks now advance to the fourth round where next Tuesday they'll face the winner of today's Glencoe/North Eugene game.

Bucks conquer Idaho

The Pendleton High School varsity softball team left the ISG Tournament in Boise, Idaho with a perfect 4-0 record, scoring 24 runs while allowing none. Game summaries below:

Alex Hillmick threw a no-hitter. 9 strikeouts. Leini Alger was 3 for 4 and led off the game with a home run and had 2 RBI; Alex Hillmick was 3 for 4 with a triple and 1 RBI; Kelli Demianew was 2 for 3 with a double and 1 RBI; Steffane Oles was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's.

Kelli Demianew threw a 2 hit shutout. 6 strikeouts. Stephanie Breshears was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI's.

Kelli Demianew threw a 3 hit shutout. 10 strikeouts; Stephanie Breshears had a triple and scored a run and Tia Smith had a single and a RBI.

Alex Hillmick threw a 1 hit shutout. 15 strikeouts. Stephanie Breshears was 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 RBI's ; Steffane Oles was 1 for 3 with a triple and a RBI.

Bucks fall to Walla Walla in opener

The Pendleton High School varsity softball team opened with a pitching gem from the combo of Kelli Demianew and Alex Hillmick but couldn't get the bats going, losing to Walla Walla, 2-1. Demianew and Hillmick held the Blue Devils to one hit and two unearned runs while striking out ten. Unfortunately, the Bucks managed only two hits themselves, including a RBI single by Leini Alger in the 6th inning, and committed two errors. Pendleton head coach Tim Cary summed up the game: "I thought we played well for our first outing. Both pitchers, Alex Hillmick and Kelli Demianew, threw very well...we simply made a couple of untimely mistakes which led to Walla Walla's 2 runs."

In freshmen action, Kristen Crawford threw a complete game in 9-2 loss to Walla Walla.
